Early Valentine's Day

Only 2 days and lovers all over the world celebrate Valentine's Day. Every February, candy, flowers, and gifts are exchanged between loved ones, all in the name of St. Valentine. The first recorded association of Valentine's Day with romantic love is in Parlement of Foules (1382) by Geoffrey Chaucer: "For this was on seynt Volantynys day. Whan euery bryd comyth there to chese (chose) his make (mate)."
This poem was written to honor the first anniversary of the engagement of King Richard II of England to Anne of Bohemia. A treaty providing for a marriage was signed on May 2, 1381. When they were married eight months later, he was 13 or 14. She was 14.
625 years later my wife Tammy and I find ourself sitting at the boulder Dushanbe Teahouse having our little early Valentine's Day celebration with tea and pastry. A great place to celebrate this special day.
In 1987, during his first visit to Boulder, Mayor Maksud Ikramov announced that Dushanbe planned to present Boulder with a Teahouse to celebrate the establishment of sister city ties. From 1987 -1990, more than 40 artisans in several cities of Tajikistan created the decorative elements of the Teahouse.
